What is a colt?

A colt is a young male horse that is typically under four years of age. It is the male equivalent of a filly, which is a young female horse. Colts are known for their playful, energetic nature, and they can be very curious and exploratory. As they grow, they develop more muscle mass and strength, making them ideal for a variety of activities including horseback riding, racing, and working on farms. Colts can also be trained to perform in equestrian competitions such as dressage, show jumping, or rodeo events. When a colt reaches four years of age, it is no longer considered a colt and is typically referred to as a young stallion or simply a stallion.
